The Wedding - My Dress

Maggie May - My Wedding Dress

I promised in my last post that I would share some details about my wedding dress with you all.

I am so lucky to say that my dress was everything I could possibly have hoped for. I think lots of us have an idea in our minds as to how our wedding dress will be, or at least what sort of styles we'd go for, and I knew from the start that I wanted to be fairly traditional.

First of all, I created a Pinterest board for inspiration - obviously it was top secret at the time, with only me and Mama Maggie May having access to it! {I've made it public now for brides-to-be and dress lovers} As you can see, there's quite a wide range of different styles on there, but it was a good starting point - and I worked out immediately what designs weren't for me, and which ones kept grabbing my eye.

Next up was choosing where to go - and that was the easiest choice to make. As a little girl, I used to walk past Sassi Holford's Taunton boutique, staring wide-eyed through the window at the stunning creations on display. There was no doubt once we got engaged that I was going to look for my dress at Sassi's.

The ladies in the Taunton boutique are absolutely amazing; from start to finish, they made the process so incredibly easy and enjoyable. My dress was actually the first I ever tried on - and I thought it was too big! But after a few weeks to think on it, I decided to give it another go, and knew it was the one I should get married in.

I was fortunate enough to order a made to measure dress, so once all my measurements had been taken, we made a few adjustments to the original design. I chose a sweetheart neckline to sit underneath my lace jacket, which was especially important as I wanted to remove the jacket for the evening.

The lace jacket tucked into a ribbon at the waist, flaring out to a rich, taffeta skirt {which, FYI, had pockets - I KNOW!} and the beautiful train which followed behind me.

I honestly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful dress.

When can I wear it again? More wedding posts coming soon!
